Behind Closed Doors: What Happens in a Whole Bodywork Session

We’ve already glimpsed what happens in a somatic coaching session and now it’s time to peek behind the door of a Whole Bodywork session where boundaries and parameters differ as does the relational dynamic between you and I.

“Will I be naked?”

“Will you be naked?”

“What is allowed and what’s out of bounds?”

Given how narrow a playing field we have for our eroticism and our sexuality to be spoken of and explored, it’s no wonder the notion of erotic-therapeutic Whole Bodywork sessions bring up many questions for folx.

The reason I refer to these as “whole” bodywork sessions is precisely because we include the whole of you. Nothing is left out. All of you is truly welcome here. Your sexuality. Your genitals. Your fantasies. Your fears. There is space for them to all be held in the container of our sessions, a container that is rooted in strong, steadfast standards of integrity and professionalism to allow you as much safety and confidence as possible when wading into the deep waters of your embodied erotic self.

Always there is a wide range of possibility and absolutely no pressure, expectation or obligation of what will happen in any given Whole Bodywork session. What I mean by that is yes, it is possible that you might be unclothed and have your genitals touched and stimulated, but this is not the only thing that happens, never the first thing that happens and under no circumstance does it ever have to happen.

We establish a foundation of informed, enthusiastic and ongoing consent and all else unfolds from there, beginning with practices that support you in empowering your voice and choice as well as ensuring we have shared language between us for clarity and ease in our verbal communication. Always I am the active giver, you are the active receiver, meaning the touch is one directional from me to you. I also remain fully clothed at all times and when in contact with your genitals and any bodily fluids, I wear gloves and am mindful of strict hygiene standards.

This tightly and lovingly held container, which meets the professional standards and code of ethics that I follow as a Certified Sexological Bodyworker, exists so that you may experience what’s possible when you are relaxed, trusting and able to focus entirely on yourself during an erotic journey as opposed to focusing on whomever else you’re with at the time. That’s worlds different than what many of us have known before and has the potential to change your world when it comes to sex!

These sessions are truly all about you! What you feel, sense and desire. What stands in the way of your embodied experience of ease and enjoyment, and can be healed and released. What unfolds when you don’t have to worry about reciprocating, pleasing, tracking or being judged by the person sharing an erotic experience with you.

In these sessions we chart the pathways to your erotic pleasure and power, literally. Genital mapping is one of several different techniques we might use to help you deepen your intimacy with self and enliven your erotic nature. Yet it’s not only your outer terrain that we cover. I will guide you into connection with your inner landscape as well, encouraging you to tap into the wisdom and potency that lives within your WHOLE body so you can channel and access it in all facets of your love and life.

Together we will explore at a pace that is gentle enough for you to really stay present, advanced enough for you to grow and always attuned to deepening your intimacy with your own self, and your partner if you’re taking the journey as a couple. Regardless of the activities and practices that are woven into your Whole Bodywork session, the overarching intention is all about your sense of presence, ease and enjoyment within your own sweet and wondrous self.

There is no guarantee of safety in this life. That’s simply a fact. Yet each of us can learn what we need to feel safe – to feel relaxed, receptive and empowered – in our bodies and in our relationships, so that we can navigate from there to create experiences of intimacy, erotic exchange and sensual delight that fill rather than deplete us. There is a wide world of exquisite possibility, and it is both your birthright and my pleasure for you to know and embody your Erotic Wholeness.

Erotic Wholeness Guide

I believe that each of us tending to our personal erotic liberation is an essential contribution to our collective liberation.

My journey began as a precocious child who loved to dance, move, touch and speak her mind boldly. I once thought I’d become a lawyer and spent more than a decade building a successful corporate career early in my adult life only to find my heart calling for something radically different. That call led me to blaze a path across the terrain of sexuality, somatics, social justice and soul.

Inspiration and guidance have come to me from many sources, including the potent voices of the Black intersectional feminist movement, the pancultural wisdom of many earth-based traditions and powerful modalities such as Somatic Experiencing and Sexological Bodywork.

I’m deeply honored to serve and inspire in the ways I do.
